Four Elements Important to New Life Church

Archive for October 2015

Shine your light!

Don’t be guilty of putting your light under a bushel! Don’t hide out in your house on the 31st with the “lights” off, but turn it on and shine for Jesus! Put a smile on your face and redeem the time! The 31st is STILL a day the Lord has made to shine as lights in this world!
The devil can’t make the sun rise or fall! Its not his day! The “day” declares the praises of the Creator not the devil

Let me sum up the book of Hebrews for you — BETTER!
Jesus is better than the angels and has a more excellent name — Hebrews 1:4
We have better things (in the New Testament under grace) that accompany Salvation — Hebrews 6:9
We have been blessed by the better — Hebrews 7:7
We have a better hope by which we draw near to God — Hebrews 7:19
Jesus is our surety of a better covenant — Hebrews 7:22
Jesus has a more excellent (Better) ministry than Levi,
We therefore have a better covenant established upon better promises — Hebrews 8:6
The Sacrifice of Jesus is better even purifying heavenly things — Hebrews 10:34
We have a better and more enduring substance in heaven — Hebrews 10:34
We are inheriting a better country, not of this world — Hebrews 11:16
A better resurrection — Hebrews 11:35
Through faith in Christ God has provided better things for us — Hebrews 11:40
The blood of Jesus speaks better things than that of Abel’s — Hebrews 12:24

Everything about Christ is better, in fact “far better” (Philippians 1:23)
The better is His best for you and I. As Marty Blackwelder said during his time at our church –“This is as bad as it gets!”
It’s getting better all the time!
Believe for better today — The better is found only in Christ and what He offers!
His plans are better, His ways are better, His blessings are better, what He adds to us is better, and nothing else can compare to the better He offers so don’t settle for second best, receive the BETTER!

Highlights 10/17/15 with Marty Blackwelder

here are the highlights from the service on 10/17/15 with Marty Blackwelder
1. We need to understand the times and know what we ought to do. 1 Chronicles 12:32
2. God is moving all around the world — even if we don’t see the same results here, the gospel has exploded and is exploding around the world
3. You cannot participate in what you don’t perceive
4. Learn to stay in contact with God’s Spirit and take your divine cues
a. Acts 14:9 where Paul was preaching the gospel and perceived the crippled man had faith to be healed, acted on that divine cue and said “stand upright on your feet!” and the man did!
5. We would get more results if we would follow those divine cues
6. God’s plan for us is that we would take our divine cues and impact people supernaturally
7. We can live in response to the leading of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14)
8. To walk in the Spirit we will have to keep being full of the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18-19)
9. A prayer language, praying in the Spirit is a way to stay full of the Spirit and in constant contact so you can receive your divine cues. (1 Cor. 14:2, 14, 18). Paul did this in his private prayer time more than all the Corinthians put together.
10. Praying in the Spirit elevates your spiritual consciousness
11. God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things

Highlights 10/16/15 Marty Blackwelder

Text: 1 Peter 1:3-7
1. Face it, your faith will be tried
2. Adversity, opposition, hardships are not out of the ordinary, they are a part of the human existence
3. There are seasons of adversity, hardship and opposition — God doesn’t want us there all the time.
4. But God — many Christians need a “but” revelation (Psalm 30:5; Ps. 34:19; John 16:33)
5. Keeping the right mentality is very crucial in navigating that season of adversity successfully and coming out victoriously.
6. The spirit of faith is the mentality we need to face life (2 Cor. 4:13)
7. The nature of faith is not only believing with ones heart but saying with ones mouth what God has said.
8. Never remain silent in your season of adversity, say what God has said
9. Satan brings opposition to try to block you from seeing the joy that is set before you.
10. God is actively working on your situation and it is turning around
11. Some of the greatest seasons, are preceded by adversity, hardship and opposition or set backs.
12. Praise hastens victory (Acts 16:25-26) (the spirit of faith will praise God through the adversity)

Be blessed!

How to get to know your pastor

I’ve been doing some type of ministry for the last 19 years, most of which has been done in the helps ministry, helping my pastor in what ever way I could.
Now I’ve been a pastor for a total of 6 years and one interesting thing I see is this; there is always a person, or people who want to be close to the pastor but don’t want to help out in the local church.
They want to be the pastor’s friend, be involved with the pastor, be in his inner circle but don’t want the commitment of helping the pastor in the work of equipping, serving, helping, and fellow-shipping in the local body.

If people really want to get to know their pastor, if they really want a relationship with them, then people need to get involved in the work of the local church and therefore work along side their pastor in doing God’s work.

“We are God’s fellow workers, you are God’s field, you are God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:9
