3 Things

3 Things People are Looking For

In my 20 years of knowing Christ and working with bringing people to Christ I have learned that people are usually looking for three things and need to see this demonstrated in the believer’s life. Now they may not know they are looking for these things, they may not have listed them to themselves but nonetheless people are looking for these three things and really desire to see them at work somewhere.

1. Love

-The first thing everyone is looking for is unconditional love. They want to know “Does God really love me?”

-God offers each person this unconditional love in the Person of Jesus Christ.

-Romans 5:8 says “ 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

-People need to know that if they were the last person on earth, Christ still would have died for them because He loves them – unconditionally!

-You can come as you are, but know this, he loves you so much He won’t leave you as you are!

-He will change your life and make you His child! He will receive you, save you, clean you, dress you in righteousness and make you holy! He loves you so much that He won’t leave you as you are!

-People also want to know “do you love me?”

-They will know we are Christ’s followers by our love! (John 13:34-35)

-We are called to love one another and others also! Do people see love demonstrated in your life? If you have received Christ’s love for you, others should see that emanating from us! It may not be mature yet, but praise God we are on our way!

2. Power

-People want to know “Can God change my life?” “Can God get me out of this mess I’m in?”, “Can God meet my needs, heal my body, fix my family?”

-Of course the answer to all those is yes! God can and He will if you will trust Him! The problem lies with the church. We have not demonstrated the power of Christ in our lives as we should.

-1 Corinthians 4:20 says “The kingdom of God is not in word but in power”

-We are called to demonstrate the Kingdom of God, not argue it!

-An argument without power is just that, an argument, and when it comes down to it will convince very few of God’s ability to help them! People want to see the power of a changed life!

3. Truth

-In a time when leaders and authorities are hard to trust, people are longing for truth. People need to see that we are people of the truth first. God’s word is truth (John 17:17)

-Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6

-People need to see that we are authentic, trustworthy, people of our word and people of God’s word!

-This is attractive to people! They crave this! They may not be people of truth themselves, but they never will be if we don’t demonstrate truth in our lives.

That’s a little taste of last Sunday, Be blessed, and may you experience God’s best throughout your week!
